Canada remains an important long-haul market for Sri Lanka tourism, with strong growth potential.

• Sri Lanka recorded 46,133 Canadian tourist arrivals in 2025, representing a 9% year-on-year increase

• Canada ranked as the 13 th largest source market globally

• The highest recorded Canadian arrivals in the last decade were 52,681 in 2018, indicating further growth potential

• Strong air connectivity is available via Middle Eastern, European, and Asian hubs

•  Total travel time is approximately 19–24 hours including layovers

Free Tourist Visa

Sri Lanka offers Tourist Visa for 30 days (Electronic Travel Authorization) to tourists from Canadian travellers Free of Charge with effect from 25th May 2026. 

The free visa should be applied via www.eta.gov.lk

• Leisure / vacation: 15,647 arrivals
• MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions): 1,040 arrivals

• Other / not stated: 3,898 arrivals

The Consulate General continues to closely engage with Canadian Travel sector stakeholders including tourism associations, travel agents, airline representatives, travel influencers and media through meetings, events, fairs, familiarization tours in order to promote Sri Lanka as an attractive long-haul destination for Canadian travellers looking for authentic travel experiences.
